Where Do the Locals Go?

There are many little known places to explore that take you off the beaten path.

Boca Grande is a quaint little town filled with boutique shops and small family owned restaurants that remind you of days gone by. Locals enjoy walking near the Loose Caboose Restaurant located at 433 4th St. in Boca Grande. After an afternoon of shopping or a delicious meal, it’s nice to end the day with a stroll on Boca Grande Beach. Visitors can navigate to 420 or 421 Gulf Boulevard, where you’ll always we able to find a parking spot!

Outside Boca Grande, take the time to visit the Lighthouse House Grill for lunch. You’ll find this local haven at 260 Maryland Avenue in Placida. If you are a Jimmy Buffet fan, this is the place for you. A local hangout, it offers a full-service bar, doggie dining area, and on-the-water restaurant. Come at the right time, and you’ll find local fishermen nearby bringing in the days catch,

Next, head over to the beach on Manasota Key. You’ll find several local favorites here, including The Sandbar Tiki and Grille at 1975 Beach Road in Englewood. It’s a great place to enjoy a margarita and live music. From there, head north on Beach Road and drive up Manasota Keys Canopy Road, following the beach past the historic hermitage artist colony.
